Words From Our Volunteers

Volunteering at the Whittaker Center has been so rewarding. I’ve learned a lot from my IDD friends, and it's inspiring to be part of a community that celebrates growth and inclusion.

I have to be honest. I was nervous when I started volunteering with the Arc of Putnam County. I didn't have any experience working with people with disabilities. But that went away the first day...they show you the true meaning of joy. I'm grateful I stepped out of my comfort zone and I'm grateful for all the things that the Arc has done for our community!
