About the Eddie Mooney Awards

The Eddie Mooney Award honors outstanding individuals, businesses, and organizations in Putnam County that have made a lasting impact in supporting and advocating for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Named in memory of Eddie Mooney, a dedicated advocate, this annual event celebrates champions of inclusion and community involvement.

Join us in recognizing those who go above and beyond to create opportunities for individuals with disabilities, while helping raise awareness and support for The Arc of Putnam County’s mission.

The James "Eddie" Mooney Leadership Award

The James Eddie Mooney Leadership Award has been established to recognize the accomplishments of people with disabilities within our community. The annual award is presented to an individual with an intellectual and developmental disability who displays the qualities of leadership, independence and courage that were hallmarks of Eddie's life.

The Lucille Flint Volunteer of the Year Award

The Lucille Flint Volunteer of the Year Award is given to an individual or organization who, through their volunteer efforts, elevate the mission of The Arc of Putnam County.

Community Contributions Award

The Community Contributions Award honors an individual who has made a positive and lasting impact within The Arc of Putnam County community. Through kindness, a willingness to help others, and a consistently positive attitude, this person leads by example and contributes to a stronger, more supportive environment for everyone. Their actions reflect the true spirit of community and inclusion.

Employment Awards

The Employment Award is given to an individual with disabilities who has shown outstanding dedication, perseverance, and growth in the workplace. They have overcome barriers to employment, demonstrated a strong work ethic, and proven their ability to thrive in their role. Their success is a powerful example of determination, capability, and the value of inclusive employment.

Self-Advocacy Award

The Self-Advocacy Award is given to an individual with disabilities who has demonstrated remarkable courage and determination in overcoming personal challenges. Through resilience and self-belief, they have gained the confidence to speak up for themselves, make their own choices, and advocate for their rights and needs. Their journey reflects strength, independence, and the power of self-advocacy.

Unsung Hero Award
