The Medically Fragile Program, located in the Whittaker Center, is unique in the local community and is designed to serve individuals with significant physical challenges in addition to any intellectual disability. Program participants may require positioning and may have feeding tubes, catheters or other medically necessary equipment requiring staff support, monitoring and maintenance. Some may require and receive therapies from trained medical personnel. Individuals choose from the full array of activities offered at the center and training to achieve improvement in the areas of communication, socialization, daily living, self-care and basic academics. The participants are supported by staff members trained in necessary health-maintenance procedures.
